Sebrae and Curitiba launch initiatives to support small businesses
Sebrae has launched the Contrata + Brasil monitoring panel, a tool designed to increase transparency and provide small entrepreneurs with better access to public procurement. The platform consolidates data across various government levels, mapping which agencies are purchasing specific goods and services, such as food and services, by state and municipality. The initiative aims to connect individual micro-entrepreneurs (MEI) and family farmers to government markets, with contracted volumes already exceeding R$ 73 million.
In a related effort to support local business, the Mayor of Curitiba, Eduardo Pimentel, introduced the Curitiba Entrepreneur Manual during a Sebrae PR event. This guide, the first of its kind in Brazil, centralizes information on business formalization, tax regimes, credit, and public services to reduce bureaucracy. The city has reportedly expanded its low-risk economic activities from 606 to 1,200 to foster a more open entrepreneurial environment.
