Sebrae launches cattle‑genetics initiatives in Brazil, from Colorado immersion to in‑vitro fertilization

Sebrae's Rio Grande do Sul unit opened registration for an international immersion mission to Colorado, United States, giving up to 15 Brazilian beef producers a chance to study the American cattle‑production system. The program, called Imersão Colorado, includes visits to universities, research centres, large feedlots such as the Five Rivers confinement, and farms that use advanced genetics, artificial insemination, embryo transfer and precision‑management technologies. Participants will return to Brazil with insights to improve productivity, sustainability and value‑chain integration in southern Brazil's beef sector.

Separately, Sebrae/CE in the state of Ceará is advancing dairy cattle genetics through a Fertilização In Vitro (FIV) project in the Cariri region. The initiative supplies high‑quality embryos to small and medium‑scale producers, reportedly achieving advances equivalent to five or seven generations in herd genetics and potentially doubling milk output per cow. Since its 2024 launch, the program has assisted 173 producers across 31 municipalities, confirming 1,338 pregnancies with a 42 % conception rate and resulting in 712 newborn calves. The project is complemented by technical consulting, market access support and training to build a more competitive and sustainable dairy sector in the region.
