Sebrae/MT celebrates 51 years of supporting small businesses

Sebrae/MT, the Service for Support to Micro and Small Enterprises of the State of Mato Grosso, is celebrating its 51st anniversary. Established in 1975 as the State Management Assistance Center (CEAG), the institution has expanded its structure and modernization to support small businesses across all regions of the state.

Micro and small enterprises currently represent 93% of the more than 523,000 active companies in Mato Grosso. To honor its contribution to regional development, State Law No. 13.039/2025 has officially designated September 19 as the State Sebrae/MT Day.

The institution has seen significant growth in female entrepreneurship. Between 2023 and 2026, female participation in Mato Grosso's entrepreneurial landscape rose from 28% to 41%. In 2025, over 127,000 women sought assistance from Sebrae/MT, resulting in more than 458,000 services provided. Data indicates that 77% of these female entrepreneurs are mothers and 64% are heads of households, managing approximately 188,000 local companies.
