SEC and Big Ten rivalry intensifies in college football

The landscape of college football is shifting as the Big Ten challenges the long-standing dominance of the SEC. While the SEC secured 14 national championships between 2003 and 2022, the Big Ten has recently secured three consecutive titles, won by Michigan, Ohio State, and Indiana.

Despite this championship drought, the SEC remains highly competitive in terms of depth. Betting projections favor Georgia to win the conference, followed by Texas, LSU, Alabama, and Oklahoma. The conference is transitioning to a nine-game schedule, and the high level of competition is expected to make win totals difficult to reach for even the most prominent programs.

Media personality Paul Finebaum noted that the intensifying rivalry between the Big Ten and the SEC has provided renewed interest and extended his career, as the era of undisputed SEC dominance has come to an end.
