Georgia Bulldogs projected as SEC champion in 2026 preseason poll

The SEC released its official preseason media poll at Media Days in Tampa, Florida. Georgia received the most support, garnering 88 of 164 votes and being named the predicted 2026 conference champion. Texas was the runner‑up with 57 votes, followed by Mississippi (six votes) and a host of other schools.

The poll also announced the All‑SEC preseason teams. Georgia players named to the first team include offensive tackle Earnest Greene III, center Drew Bobo, defensive back KJ Bolden and defensive back Ellis Robinson IV. Additional Bulldogs made second‑team selections such as linebacker Raylen Wilson and defensive lineman Taylor Wein.

Only ten times since 1992 has the media’s preseason favorite gone on to win the SEC title, underscoring that the prediction is not a guarantee. The rankings set expectations for the conference’s 16 teams ahead of the 2026 season and will shape early-season narratives and betting lines.
