SEC leads Power Four nonconference play as Florida coach earns weekly honors
The SEC has established a significant lead in nonconference play during the 2026 college football season, holding a 10-2 record against Power Four opponents. In contrast, the Big Ten has struggled with a 4-10 record in similar matchups. The SEC remains the only league with a winning record against the rest of the Power Four, including a 5-0 record against the ACC.
In individual accolades, CBS Sports named Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall as the SEC coach of the week for Week 4. Sumrall led Florida to a 52-28 victory over the previously undefeated Ole Miss Rebels. The Gators' performance was bolstered by running back Jadan Baugh, who recorded 154 total yards and three touchdowns, and Aaron Philo, who contributed 196 passing yards and a touchdown. Following the win, Florida has risen to No. 8 in the AP poll.
