Bitcoin faces correction risk amid surging profit-taking

Bitcoin is experiencing a period of heightened volatility and potential correction risk as profit-taking reaches multi-month highs. On-chain data from CryptoQuant indicates that unrealized profit margins for short-term holders climbed to 33% in September, the highest level since late 2024. This surge in realized profits, including a peak of 25,700 BTC on September 22, coincides with cooling spot demand and a persistently negative Coinbase Premium Index.

Despite these pressures, technical indicators present a mixed outlook. Bitcoin's Bull Score recently hit 90 out of 100 after the price crossed its 365-day moving average, a signal often associated with the start of bull markets. However, analysts note significant resistance between $85,000 and $85,500, with $80,000 identified as a key support level. While spot Bitcoin ETFs in the US saw substantial inflows of approximately $1 billion during late September, overall trading volume remains relatively low.

In the broader crypto market, Ethereum analysts like Arthur Hayes have expressed optimism, predicting the asset could reach $10,000 by year-end. Meanwhile, Eric Jackson suggests Bitcoin could hit $100,000 by the end of 2026 if current macro trends and liquidity conditions persist.
