Secangkir Cafe closes following owner's death in highway accident
Secangkir Cafe in Kuantan, Pahang, has officially ceased operations following the death of its owner, 32-year-old Nur Atiqah Sofiya Mohd Hazwan. The owner, along with her husband and son, passed away in an 11-vehicle accident on the East Coast Expressway 1 (LPT1) on August 31.
On the cafe's final day of operation on September 4, customers provided significant financial support through donations. The family reported collecting approximately RM9,000 on that day, intended to help settle the deceased's debts and supplier payments. Many patrons visited not only to purchase food but to offer condolences and support.
Due to the loss of the primary operator, the family has decided not to continue the business. While several parties have expressed interest in taking over the lease, the family is leaving the selection of a new tenant to the landowner. They have stated that the new operator may continue the cafe concept but must use a different name, as they do not wish to continue using the Secangkir Cafe brand.
