SECHEEP reinforces electrical supply in Chaco ahead of El Niño

The energy company SECHEEP has implemented a contingency plan in Chaco, Argentina, to ensure a stable electrical supply ahead of the El Niño climate phenomenon. The plan involves preventive measures in areas prone to flooding and during periods of intense rainfall.

Strategic efforts are focused on strengthening energy supplies for pumping stations, dams, and other critical points within the province's water defense systems. SECHEEP President Carlos Camargo stated that these works are being carried out in coordination with the Provincial Emergency Committee and the provincial government under the guidelines of Governor Leandro Zdero.

Forecasts suggest that El Niño may lead to higher-than-usual rainfall, river rises, and flooding, particularly in eastern Chaco near the Paraná and Paraguay rivers. While other parts of the province may see less accumulated water, short bursts of intense rain could still cause localized flooding. SECHEEP is intensifying its territorial planning and monitoring to maintain response capacity for potential emergencies.
