Sechura: 16-year-old fisherman dies after falling into the sea

A 16-year-old fisherman, identified as Steven Tume Chunga, died after falling into the sea in Caleta Constante, located in the Sechura province of Piura.

The accident occurred around 8:00 a.m. while the teenager was assisting his father with fishing activities. Reports indicate that while attempting to free some corks stuck beneath the vessel to anchor the boat, the youth fell into the water. He was reportedly wearing boots at the time, which may have hindered his ability to swim or stay afloat.

Family members and local divers conducted a search for approximately 30 minutes before recovering his body. Despite immediate first aid and emergency efforts to stabilize him during transport to a health center in Sechura, medical personnel confirmed his death.
