Second suspect arrested in fatal Chelan Hills Fire

Authorities have arrested a second suspect in connection with the deadly Chelan Hills Fire in Douglas County, Washington. The U.S. Marshals Service apprehended 19-year-old Mark Okhrimchik, who faces charges of first-degree manslaughter, first-degree arson, first-degree malicious mischief, and six counts of third-degree assault.

Previously, 18-year-old Michael Yakimov was taken into custody. During a recent court appearance, Yakimov pleaded not guilty to nine charges, including manslaughter and arson. He remains in custody on $1 million bail.

Investigators believe the fire, which occurred on July 4, was ignited by teenagers using illegal fireworks from vehicles on Highway 97. The resulting blaze burned approximately 10,000 to 15,000 acres, destroyed over 100 homes and outbuildings, and caused more than $9 million in damages. The fire resulted in the death of 69-year-old Robert Lister of Orondo. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office stated that arrest warrants remain outstanding for three additional suspects.
