Secondary education special exam periods begin in Spain and Portugal

Secondary education special exam periods are underway in Spain and Portugal, providing students with opportunities to improve their grades or access higher education.

In Spain, over 9,000 students are participating in the September 2026 selectividad exams. The Department of Research and Universities provides exam papers and solution guides in PDF format immediately following each test to allow students to verify their answers. Subjects include languages, physics, geography, and various arts and sciences.

In Portugal, more than 43,000 students are enrolled in a special exam period designed to mitigate previous technical difficulties with electronic grading. This period allows students to compete for 6,639 vacancies in the second phase of higher education access. Students can benefit from the highest grade obtained between the July exams and this special period. The most popular subjects include Portuguese, Mathematics A, and Physics and Chemistry A.
