Dominican Republic launches National Tests for over 111,000 students

The Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (MINERD) began the first 2026 National Tests on Tuesday, June 23, involving 111,994 secondary‑level students from 3,002 schools nationwide. The examinations cover Mathematics, Social Sciences, Spanish Language and Natural Sciences and are administered in two phases: the secondary‑school test from June 23‑26 and the Youth‑Adult Secondary test on June 27‑28. Of the participants, 87,497 are regular secondary students in academic, arts and technical‑professional tracks, while 24,497 are enrolled in the Youth‑Adult Secondary program. The testing process is coordinated by the Directorate of Learning Evaluation and overseen by regional and district education offices to ensure transparency and quality. MINERD emphasized the role of the tests in measuring learning outcomes and informing policy decisions to improve the pre‑university education system.
