Secret Harbour by-election: Roger Cook faces potential Labor loss
Polling has opened for the Secret Harbour by-election in Western Australia. WA Premier Roger Cook expressed that it would ‘break his heart’ if the Labor Party were to lose the seat, which has historically been a safe electorate for the party.
Labor candidate Georgia Tree defended the party against criticisms regarding the failure to deliver the Karnup train station, instead highlighting achievements such as the construction of a hospital in Mandurah and reduced public transport fares.
One Nation candidate Luke Herdegen expressed confidence in winning the seat, citing voter dissatisfaction with the cost of living and a feeling of neglect within the electorate. Herdegen noted he received support from party leader Pauline Hanson during the campaign.
