Secret Neighbor hit by cyberattack demanding game removal

The multiplayer stealth-horror game ‘Secret Neighbor’ has been targeted by a cyberattack that resulted in the deletion of player profiles and game progress. The publisher, tinyBuild, and developer, Hologryph, announced that attackers gained unauthorized access to backend administrative credentials, allowing them to execute a coordinated attack across all platforms.

Unlike typical ransomware attacks that demand financial payment, the attackers have demanded that the game be removed from sale on all platforms. The developers have stated they will not comply with these demands and are currently working with relevant authorities to resolve the incident.

While player progress and profiles were compromised, the companies emphasized that no sensitive personal information or private data was leaked. All game servers have been temporarily taken offline to address vulnerabilities and facilitate data recovery efforts. As a result, multiplayer gameplay is currently unavailable.
