Secretaría de Salud launches healthy lifestyle campaign

The Mexican Secretariat of Health has launched ‘Yo Elijo Ser’, a communication campaign designed to promote healthy eating and physical activity. Developed in collaboration with health specialists and UNICEF, the initiative uses behavioral research to address rising rates of weight issues.

According to Daniel Aceves Villagrán, Director General of Public Health Policies, four out of ten schoolchildren, five out of ten adolescents, and seven out of ten adults live with overweight or obesity.

The strategy is segmented by age group: ‘Estrellas por la Salud’ for children aged 2 to 11, ‘Come como Campeón y Campeona’ for adolescents aged 12 to 17, and ‘Yo Elijo Ser’ for adults. The campaign will provide information on dietary guidelines, food labeling, and the benefits of physical activity through digital media, infographics, and posters.
