Jujuy commemorates 214th anniversary of the Éxodo Jujeño

The province of Jujuy is commemorating the 214th anniversary of the Éxodo Jujeño, a pivotal historical event from 1812 where the local population, under General Manuel Belgrano, abandoned their homes to prevent the advancing royalist forces from utilizing local resources.

Official ceremonies included protocol acts at Plaza Belgrano in San Salvador de Jujuy, attended by Governor Carlos Sadir and Mayor Raúl Chuli Jorge. The commemorations also featured a traditional civic-military and gaucho parade in the Alto Comedero neighborhood, involving over 75 gaucho groups and hundreds of participants.

In San Pedro de Jujuy, local authorities held ceremonies at Plaza de las Naciones, including a parade of students, dance academies, and gaucho groups. The festivities across the province aim to preserve the collective memory of the sacrifice made by the people of Jujuy during the Argentine struggle for independence.
