French rugby clubs conclude pre-season friendly matches

French rugby clubs have completed several key pre-season friendly matches ahead of the upcoming Top 14 season.

ASM Clermont narrowly lost to Stade Français with a score of 31-29. Despite a dominant first half where Clermont led 26-14 following four tries, including a double from Yanis Brosset, indiscipline in the second half allowed the Parisians to recover and secure the win via a late penalty by Louis Foursans.

Aviron Bayonnais secured a 42-26 victory against Biarritz in a local derby. Coach Camille Lopez noted that while the performance was irregular and required more consistency, the win provided a positive start to their preparations.

Section Paloise defeated Vannes 30-26 in Guingamp. Manager Sébastien Piqueronies expressed satisfaction with the team's cohesion and fundamental play, such as scrums and lineouts, but highlighted concerns regarding their performance in ruck and ground play, noting it as a critical area for improvement before the official season begins.
