Sector 1, Bucharest bans electric scooters in parks and playgrounds
On 5 August, the Local Council of Sector 1 in Bucharest approved a regulation that prohibits the circulation and parking of electric scooters in parks, playgrounds and other green spaces administered by the sector’s mayoralty. The measure replaces the 2016 decision and is intended to protect children, parents and other users of these recreational areas. Violations will be fined between 1,000 and 5,000 lei, with higher penalties for unauthorized use of any motorised vehicle on the green zones. Exceptions apply to vehicles on official missions, public‑utility interventions and those supplying market traders. PNL councilor Ion Enache explained that the rule does not ban alternative mobility but sets clear safety priorities for public spaces.
