Sector 1 approves monthly sports subsidies for children

The Sector 1 Local Council has approved the “O șansă la sport” (A chance at sport) project, which provides monthly financial support of up to 250 lei for children aged 6 to 12 to cover sports club memberships. Scheduled to begin on January 1, 2027, the program has an estimated annual budget of 10 million lei.

To be eligible, children must be enrolled in a state or private educational institution within Sector 1 and meet specific socio-economic criteria. These include a maximum net monthly family income of 4,000 lei per member, or being a recipient of a social scholarship or having special educational needs (CES).

The funds are intended exclusively for sports subscriptions at validated clubs within the sector and cannot be used for food or equipment. To modernize the process, the municipality will replace paper vouchers with digital nominal cards, allowing for online registration and easier management of public funds.
