Sector 4 Bucharest officials face scrutiny over 1.4 million euro landscaping project
Local councilors in Bucharest's Sector 4 are set to vote on a landscaping and street planting project totaling approximately 1.4 million euros (6.9 million lei) across six streets: Pogoanele, Anghel Moldoveanu, Odei, Orăștie, Secuilor, and Caporal Marin Grigore.
Critics and journalists have raised concerns regarding the lack of transparency in the documentation provided by the municipal company Totul Verde S.A. The technical-economic files reportedly omit essential details, such as the specific species of plants to be used, the total number of specimens, and the exact surface areas for planting.
Local councilor Paul Ene noted that while the number of trees per street has been requested, the documentation remains vague. Estimates suggest an average cost of approximately 10,000 lei per tree. The project has been described by observers as a 'blind vote' due to the insufficient justification of costs and missing technical specifics.
