Securitize expands tokenized asset operations amid regulatory discussions
Securitize is expanding its footprint in the tokenized asset market, currently overseeing more than $4 billion in tokenized real-world assets. The company, which operates as an SEC-registered broker-dealer, transfer agent, and alternative trading system operator, maintains that its issuer-sponsored model ensures compliance with existing US securities laws without the immediate need for new legislation like the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act.
Following its July 2026 NYSE debut under the ticker SECZ, Securitize became the first newly public company to perform a dual blockchain listing on Solana and Avalanche. The firm has also secured FINRA approval for on-chain custody and atomic settlement against stablecoins.
Regarding potential SEC exemptions for tokenized stocks, Securitize President Brett Redfearn suggests that the agency may implement an “issuer opt-out” mechanism. This would likely allow public companies a window of time to object before third parties tokenize their shares. This follows pushback from groups like the Securities Transfer Association, which argues that exemptions should only apply to issuer-sponsored tokens.
