Security concerns in Mañazo and missing officer in Neiva

In the Mañazo district of Puno, local communities are reporting a critical security gap due to the absence of a police patrol vehicle for over three months. The unit was reportedly sent to Puno for maintenance but remains inoperable due to mechanical failure. Tomás Subia, president of the Mañazo peasant patrols, stated that authorities are awaiting new vehicles. In response, peasant patrols, neighborhood watches, and municipal security services have begun coordinating night patrols to mitigate vulnerability to crime.

Separately, in Neiva, Colombia, authorities are investigating the disappearance of Juan Manuel Perdomo, a member of the Metropolitan Police. Perdomo was last seen on a Saturday morning after leaving his home for a local shop. Before losing contact, he reportedly sent a WhatsApp message to his wife requesting that she contact the police urgently. Investigators are currently reviewing security camera footage to reconstruct his final movements and determine the circumstances of his disappearance.
