Security conferences in Sarajevo and Nova Gorica address geopolitical and cyber threats

The fourth Sarajevo Security Conference, themed ‘European Security in a Divided World’, is being held in Sarajevo from September 4 to 6. The event features over 140 speakers and 300 participants, including US congressmen, NATO officials, and experts from the technological and academic sectors. Geopolitical analyst Emina Muzaferija noted that the old international order is effectively dead while a new one has yet to be established, highlighting a fragmented Europe where priorities differ between the East, which views Russia as an existential threat, and the South/West, which focuses more on migration and Mediterranean stability.

In Slovenia, the 24th Infosek conference is taking place in Nova Gorica, focusing on information security and the increasing intersection of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. Following a recent cyberattack on the company Hit, organizers emphasized that human error remains a primary vulnerability. The conference highlights the growing importance of cybersecurity awareness among employees to prevent system breaches caused by suspicious messages and compromised credentials.
