Security expert criticizes NSO response in Sonya Koltuklieva incident

National security expert Milen Ivanov has identified what he describes as a series of cascading errors by the National Service for Protection (NSO) during a recent incident involving journalist Sonya Koltuklieva.

According to Ivanov, the security team failed to follow standard protocols. He noted that the driver failed to lock the vehicle doors immediately after the protected individual entered, and a security officer abandoned his post prematurely, allowing an unauthorized person to access the door handle.

Ivanov further characterized the physical interaction between the security officer and Koltuklieva as an use of excessive force. He suggested the officer's aggressive reaction may have been an unprofessional attempt to compensate for realizing a procedural mistake had been made.
