Security experts address Black Sea stability and host multinational exercises in Romania
Security experts and officials recently convened in Brussels for the ‘Secure Euxeinos, Secure Europe’ seminar to discuss the European Union’s strategic approach to the Black Sea region. The discussions focused on cooperation with partner nations including Ukraine, Turkey, Georgia, and Moldova, while addressing the destabilizing actions of Russia. Participants emphasized the need to correlate regional security with future reconstruction efforts for Ukraine and highlighted the importance of maritime situational awareness and the protection of critical infrastructure.
In a separate security development, Romania hosted the ‘Carpathian Blue Shield 2026’ exercise, a large-scale multinational drill involving over 500 participants from 19 countries. Romanian Minister of Internal Affairs Catalin Predoiu noted that the increasingly interconnected nature of modern risks requires law enforcement and public order structures to enhance interoperability and joint response capabilities across national and international borders.
