Security forces deploy in Al-Suqaylabiyah following violent clashes
Security forces have deployed heavily in Al-Suqaylabiyah and Qalaat al-Madiq in the Hama countryside following a series of violent incidents. The unrest, which began on Saturday night, involved shootings, clashes between youths from the two towns, and attacks on commercial shops.
Local reports indicate that individuals on motorcycles opened fire toward civilians and businesses, resulting in one woman being injured and hospitalized. In response, the Hama Media Directorate stated that Internal Security Forces intervened to contain the situation and have arrested several individuals involved in the clashes for legal processing. Authorities characterized the incident as an attempt at systematic incitement by hostile platforms to undermine social cohesion.
Amid the tension, Father Fadi Sunkari, head of the Parish Council in Al-Suqaylabiyah, called on authorities to protect residents and emphasized the need for accountability rather than vengeance. While security forces continue to patrol to prevent further escalations, some reports noted gatherings of protesters in public squares and expressions of solidarity in Damascus.
