Security forces dismantle drug trafficking networks in Lebanon and Egypt
Security forces in Lebanon and Egypt have conducted significant operations against drug trafficking networks.
In Lebanon, the Internal Security Forces arrested nine individuals across several areas in the Mount Lebanon governorate, including Qabshmoun, Dekwaneh, Dbayeh, Mkalles, Bourj Hammoud, and Ouzai. Authorities seized a variety of narcotics, including cocaine, hashish, marijuana, crystal meth, and Captagon, along with a firearm, ammunition, and tools used for packaging. The suspects, including Lebanese, Syrian, and Egyptian nationals, confessed to the crimes.
In Egypt, the Ministry of Interior disrupted a dangerous criminal gang in Giza. Two members of the gang, who had previously received life sentences or death penalties for related crimes, were apprehended in the Al-Munira al-Gharbiya area. Police seized 176 kilograms of ‘powder’ drugs, valued at approximately 450 million Egyptian pounds. The investigation revealed that the gang was recycling raw materials disguised as plastic pipe components sent from abroad. Authorities are currently working to apprehend two other gang members who have fled the country.
