Security forces intensify operations in Mimika, Papua Tengah
Security forces in Mimika Regency, Central Papua, have intensified operations to maintain public order and protect essential services. In Kwamki Narama, a joint force of 160 personnel from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) conducted sweeping operations and raids. These efforts specifically target the seizure of sharp weapons and war tools to prevent violence, as well as the pursuit of individuals involved in murder cases. These security sweeps are scheduled to continue through next week.
In the mountainous Jila District, Mimika Police Chief AKBP Alredo Agustinus Rumbiak emphasized the necessity of collaboration between general police, Brimob (Mobile Brigade), and the TNI. This synergy is deemed critical to ensuring that public services, including healthcare, can operate without disruption from armed criminal groups (KKB). Due to the high-intensity nature of threats involving firearms and explosives in these remote areas, specialized units like Brimob are being integrated to provide the necessary tactical capacity.
