Cartago authorities arrest fifth of 14 most-wanted criminals

Authorities in Cartago have arrested Deylan Monestel Bonilla, the fifth individual captured from a list of 14 most-wanted criminals in the province. The arrest was part of ‘Operación Cacería’, conducted by the Ministry of Public Security and the Judicial Investigation Body (OIJ).

Monestel Bonilla was located at his mother's residence in Llanos de Santa Lucía, Paraíso. Upon noticing police presence, the suspect attempted to flee by jumping across neighboring rooftops, resulting in a leg injury. Following a pursuit by the Public Force and the Criminal Intelligence and Analysis Directorate (DIAC), he was apprehended and taken to a medical center before being placed at the disposal of judicial authorities.

During the operation, officers seized a firearm modified to fire in automatic mode, along with an extended magazine with a 30-round capacity. Police link Monestel Bonilla to the criminal organization known as ‘Los Maruja’, noting his reputation for violent behavior within the group, which is involved in drug trafficking disputes in the province.
