Security incidents reported in Mali and Democratic Republic of the Congo

In Mali, the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) has condemned a terrorist attack that occurred on September 10, 2026, against defense and security force positions in the Dioura sector, located in the Nampala circle of the Ségou region. The CNDH expressed consternation over the incident and called on authorities to strengthen security measures, identify the perpetrators, and ensure they are brought to justice. The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) have announced ongoing aero-terrestrial operations against terrorist groups in the area.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, lawyers from the Kasaï Central Bar Association held a peaceful march in Kananga to protest alleged threats and violence from elements of the Congolese National Police (PNC). Led by Bâtonnier François Ntumba, the group reported that three colleagues were assaulted while intervening in client cases. Following a meeting with Provincial Commissioner Mike Magnan, both parties agreed to pursue dialogue to improve collaboration between justice actors and security services. The reported incidents are expected to be referred to the military auditorate.
