Security investigations underway in Celaya following violence

Authorities in Celaya are investigating two separate incidents of violence. Following the murder of traffic agent María del Rosario Rodríguez Olvera, who was shot while traveling in a transport platform vehicle, Citizen Security Secretary Pablo Muñoz Huitrón stated that officials cannot rule out internal information leaks within the transit and municipal police departments.

Rodríguez Olvera had been with the corporation for approximately one year and had no prior adverse performance records. In response, officials announced they will reinforce supervision by requiring traffic agents to use lapel cameras and will conduct personalized interviews and updated confidence exams for personnel.

In a separate incident, authorities are investigating the intentional burning of a private company vehicle in the La Calesa neighborhood. Two individuals on a motorcycle reportedly threw liquid on the vehicle and set it on fire. While initial reports suggested the vehicle belonged to the municipal government, officials clarified it was private property. Security Secretary Muñoz Huitrón noted that the motive may be related to extortion.
