Security leaders conduct operational reviews in Burkina Faso and Niger

In Burkina Faso, General Moussa Diallo, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, conducted an operational tour in Dédougou on August 17, 2026. The visit focused on meeting with Defense and Security Forces engaged in territorial security operations. General Diallo visited wounded soldiers and met with the Army Health Service to acknowledge their role in maintaining operational capacity through medical care and evacuations.

In Niger, Governor Mahamadou Ibrahim Bagadoma presided over an extraordinary meeting of the Diffa Regional Security Council on August 16, 2026. The council reviewed the general security situation in the region and discussed measures to enhance road safety and vigilance. The meeting included tactical military leaders and regional security heads, following a recent fatal bus accident in the Tahoua region that resulted in 21 deaths.
