Security measures activated in Esmeraldas schools and military debt collection in Spain

In Ecuador, the Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture has activated ‘Plan Escudo’ to reinforce security at schools in Esmeraldas. This decision follows an alert at the Unidad Educativa 10 de Agosto in San Lorenzo, where students were safely evacuated with the assistance of the National Police.

Minister Gilda Alcívar stated that student and teacher safety is non-negotiable. The plan includes increased police and military presence around educational institutions, particularly during entry and exit hours. Additionally, student counseling professionals are providing emotional support to those affected by the incident.

In Spain, the Ministry of Defense, through the Army's Personnel Assistance Directorate, has issued an official notice to collect outstanding debts from members of several military sports centers, including the Ceuta Military Sports Center, Infanta Elena, Jardines de la Hípica, and Cabo Fernández Cendejas.

The notice was published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) after individual notification attempts failed. The administration aims to recover maintenance and usage fees to ensure the economic sustainability of the Army's sports facilities.
