Security measures in Caucete and energy conservation calls in Bogotá

In Caucete, Argentina, local authorities have implemented a security contingency plan for the municipal cemetery following a series of thefts and acts of vandalism. Government Secretary Leticia Sierra reported that criminals have stolen over 80 meters of cabling, leaving the area in darkness. To combat this, the municipality has hired San Juan Police for nightly patrols at a cost of 1.6 million pesos per month. Additionally, solar-powered lamps have been installed to bypass the need for cables, and plans for underground wiring and perimeter fencing are underway.

In Bogotá, Colombia, Councilman David Saavedra has criticized public and private entities for failing to lead by example in energy conservation efforts. This comes as the District and Enel Colombia urge citizens to reduce electricity consumption due to the El Niño phenomenon. Saavedra noted that even Enel Colombia's own facilities showed avoidable lighting use, calling for institutions to mirror the responsibility they demand from citizens.
