Security Operations Centers adopt agentic AI to manage rising threat volumes

Security Operations Centers (SOCs) are facing increasing pressure due to rising alert volumes and expanding attack surfaces. Industry data indicates that 75% of security leaders are concerned that SOCs are failing to keep pace with emerging threats.

To address these challenges, companies are moving toward automated solutions. Huntress has introduced Athena, an agentic investigation system composed of over 40 specialized AI agents. This system is designed to automate time-consuming preliminary tasks, such as organizing high-priority signals into structured investigations and scanning related signals, rather than replacing human analysts.

However, the rise of autonomous agentic AI presents new security challenges. Unlike traditional models that flag deviations from established norms, autonomous AI agents are designed to operate within enterprise architectures as approved users. This ability to mimic legitimate user behavior may render existing detection pipelines, such as SIEM and EDR tools, inadequate in identifying potential exploits.
