Security operations planned for Katy Perry concert and pyrotechnics crackdown

Authorities in Mexico and Spain are implementing specialized security operations for upcoming public events and seasonal safety.

In San Luis Potosí, Mexico, the Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana (SSPC) and the Fenapo 2026 Board have coordinated a comprehensive security plan for Katy Perry’s free concert on August 25. The operation includes surveillance at access points, strategic zones, and roadways, alongside medical support and hydration stations. The event will feature specialized assistance for people with disabilities and organized parking for tours and buses.

In Salamanca, Spain, the Municipal Civil Protection Directorate is launching a surprise inspection campaign starting in September to combat the sale of clandestine pyrotechnics in markets and street stalls. Working with the Municipal Police and Sedena, officials will seize unauthorized explosives for destruction. The initiative also includes educational awareness programs in local schools to warn minors about the dangers of handling gunpowder.
