Security technology and criminal activity are driving recent law enforcement developments across Latin America. In Mendoza, Argentina, video surveillance systems led to the arrest of two individuals. In Las Heras, police used real-time monitoring to catch a suspect dismantling copper pipes on the roofs of a bakery and a hair salon. In Carrodilla, authorities intercepted a man attempting to steal components from an air conditioning unit.

In Río Negro, Argentina, the implementation of the ‘Anillo Digital’ (Digital Ring) has significantly improved vehicle recovery. This network of 60 license plate recognition (LPR) cameras and 17 monitoring centers has enabled the seizure of 70 stolen vehicles this year, a substantial increase from the 15 vehicles typically recovered annually through manual methods. The system processes approximately 150,000 plates daily, cross-referencing them with judicial databases.

Meanwhile, in Aguascalientes, Mexico, a criminal group targeted three high-profile residences in the Valle del Campestre and Lomas de la Cantera areas. The perpetrators reportedly used specialized equipment, such as scanners, to disable alarm systems. Authorities estimate the stolen loot, consisting of cash and jewelry, is valued between 250,000 and 300,000 pesos. Investigations are ongoing to track a white Volkswagen Tiguan believed to be used in the robberies.
