Security training for indigenous protection held in Puyanawa Village

Public security agents from Acre and eight other states in the Legal Amazon are participating in a specialized training program held within the Puyanawa Indigenous Village in Mâncio Lima. Organized by the National Public Security Secretariat (Senasp) of the Ministry of Justice, this fourth edition of the Indigenous Peoples Service Course is the first to be conducted directly on indigenous territory.

The 80-hour program involves 43 participants and combines theoretical lessons with operational field activities. The curriculum focuses on indigenous legislation, cultural diversity, and specific social dynamics to ensure law enforcement acts respectfully and effectively within these communities.

Training also addresses the rise of organized crime in indigenous territories, including illegal land grabbing, unauthorized mining, illegal logging, poaching, and drug trafficking. The initiative aims to strengthen dialogue between security institutions and indigenous populations to better protect their territories and rights.
