Mexican police certification Ciudad Madero Tourist Police CJNG arrest Alvarado security women in law enforcement

In Alvarado, Veracruz, Mayor Alberto Cobos reported that only 10 of the 40 municipal police officers are currently certified, while the remaining 30 are undergoing the process. Cobos stated the gradual certification is necessary to ensure the municipality does not lose its security personnel during the transition. The region also saw the arrest of Francisco 'N', alias 'El Gordo Frank', identified as a regional leader for the Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG), on July 23, 2026.

In Chihuahua, three female officers—Nayeli Bustillos, Beatriz Marros, and Sara Sánchez—are operating the 'Halcón 1' municipal helicopter. The group aims to break gender barriers in aeronautical police work and pursue further certification through the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC).

Meanwhile, in Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas, 20 trainees are undergoing professional training to form a new Tourist Police force. Approximately half of the trainees are women. The training, conducted at the Universidad de Seguridad y Justicia de Tamaulipas, includes human rights, emotional intelligence, and the use of force. The program is expected to conclude between December 2026 and January 2027.
