Regional developments in Peru and Bolivia: Drought and elections

Various regional developments are occurring across Peru and Bolivia. In Bolivia, a severe drought in the Chuquisaca department has affected 24 of its 29 municipalities, impacting over 35,000 families and putting approximately 67,000 head of livestock at risk.

In Peru, regional and municipal election campaigns are intensifying. In Junín, candidate Dimas Rudy Aliaga Castro has challenged Vladimir Cerrón to a public debate, criticizing current candidate Fernando Orihuela. In Pisco, mayoral candidates debated economic development and sustainable tourism. In Lima, Daniel Urresti proposed increasing police patrols through a renting model, while Juan Carlos Zurek discussed security strategies for La Molina inspired by El Salvador's model. In La Victoria, Alberto Moreno is campaigning on social programs and security.

Additionally, the Regional Government of Huánuco (Gorehco) has granted legal defense funding to former governor Erasmo Fernández Sixto to assist in two ongoing investigations involving organized crime and corruption.
