Sedat Karagöz murder case leads to suspect arrest in Diyarbakır
Sedat Karagöz, a 48‑year‑old man from Diyarbakır, disappeared in late March 2025. After his family reported him missing, AFAD search teams located his body in the Dicle River on 31 March. An autopsy by the Turkish Forensic Medicine Institute determined that he died from gunshot‑related skull fractures, brain hemorrhage and tissue damage.
Security‑camera footage showed Karagöz together with Necati Çetin on the evening of his disappearance. Çetin, identified as a drug‑dependent individual, was arrested and charged with intentional homicide. He denied the accusations, claiming he did not fire the weapon and that he uses drugs only occasionally. The case is now being heard in the 8th Heavy Penal Court, with Karagöz’s mother testifying that the suspect’s drug habit contributed to the killing.
