Sedena to invest 1,658 million pesos in Mexico City military museum

Mexico's Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) plans to invest 1,658 million pesos to construct a large-scale military museum and a National Center for Military History in the first section of Chapultepec Forest, Mexico City.

The project, which is seeking authorization from the Mexico City Ministry of the Environment (Sedema), would impact approximately 55,624 square meters of the forest, an area designated as an Environmental Value Area. The proposed construction is expected to take 36 months and would cover a surface area larger than the Zócalo.

The architectural plan includes two main buildings of two and three levels to house exhibition halls for the Army, Air Force, and National Guard, with space for aircraft displays. Additional facilities planned for the site include an auditorium for 364 people, a souvenir shop, a cafeteria, and parking facilities for 447 cars and eight buses.
