Mexican states expand social welfare and healthcare services

Various Mexican state governments are implementing social welfare and health initiatives. In Chihuahua, Governor Maru Campos announced the arrival of a new linear accelerator at the Centro Estatal de Cancerología (CECAN). This device, currently undergoing installation and testing, is expected to double cancer treatment capacity in the capital, providing more precise and less invasive options through the MediChihuahua program.

In Sinaloa, the Secretaría de Bienestar y Desarrollo Sustentable (SEBIDES) has provided humanitarian aid to over 70 displaced families in the Ayuné community of Culiacán. The assistance included food supplies, blankets, and purified water, alongside efforts to restore basic services like electricity and water. Additionally, SEBIDES distributed over 2,000 food packages to indigenous communities in northern Sinaloa.

In San Luis Potosí, the Secretaría de Desarrollo Social y Regional (Sedesore) reported that food aid distribution in Ciudad Valles has reached 60 percent. The agency is also preparing to expand social programs, including subsidized tortilla sales and the distribution of water cisterns in Santa María del Río.

In Zacatecas, the Health Caravan, an initiative by Governor David Monreal Ávila, is providing free medical services, including X-rays, ultrasounds, and mental health consultations, to residents in the Loreto region.
