SEDIF hosts regional meeting for community development groups
The Third Regional Meeting of Community Development Groups 2026 was held in Peñamiller, bringing together approximately 335 participants from six municipalities: Peñamiller, Cadereyta de Montes, Colón, Tolimán, Ezequiel Montes, and San Joaquín. The event, organized by the State DIF System (SEDIF), aims to strengthen community projects in areas facing high levels of social marginalization.
Participants showcased various workshops, including the production of cleaning supplies, preserves, handicrafts, colorimetry, and barbering. Additionally, groups presented models of sustainable housing built collectively as part of their community action plans. These initiatives focus on key pillars such as nutrition, sustainable housing, health, education, and economic strengthening.
Car Herrera de Kuri, president of the State DIF Patronage, emphasized that community development is a fundamental pillar of social assistance, highlighting the need to build sustainable and inclusive societies. Óscar Gómez Niembro, Director General of SEDIF, noted that the Health and Wellbeing Program currently serves 33 high-marginalization localities across 15 municipalities in the state.
