SEEG modernizes Ntoum water production station with automatic screeners

The Société d’énergie et d’eau du Gabon (SEEG) has commissioned two automatic screeners at the Ntoum drinking water production station in the Estuaire province. These devices are designed to intercept and remove debris, such as branches, leaves, and other organic matter, that could damage or obstruct raw water intake structures.

This automation aims to reduce the need for frequent manual cleaning, which is often performed under difficult conditions. By minimizing human intervention, the company intends to improve worker safety and allow staff to focus more on surveillance, monitoring, and preventive maintenance.

The upgrade is part of a broader effort to modernize hydraulic infrastructure and ensure a more stable and continuous water supply for the Grand Libreville area. This follows previous capacity expansions at the Ntoum facility, which increased treated water production from 175,000 to 215,000 m³ per day in 2014.
