Seela Sella and Jarkko Martikainen release new book

Actress Seela Sella and musician Jarkko Martikainen have released a new book, ‘Keskusteluja hyvästä elämästä’ (Conversations About a Good Life). The work, based on discussions held at Sella’s home, explores themes of creativity, life attitudes, and mortality.

In the book, Sella shares a personal and heavy secret regarding her aunt, Heljä. Sella reveals that her aunt chose to end her own life using stockpiled medication after witnessing the suffering of other family members due to cancer. Sella notes that she and her mother kept the truth from Heljä’s husband to protect him from guilt, a decision Sella describes as a burden she will carry.

Sella, who is 89 years old, is currently receiving palliative care in Helsinki following the recurrence of throat cancer. The book is available in print, as an e-book, and as an audiobook narrated by Eija Ahvo and Lari Halme.
