Seelisberg Tunnel requires dipped beam headlights

Drivers using the Seelisberg Tunnel in Switzerland are reminded that daytime running lights are insufficient for tunnel transit. While Swiss law has required vehicles to use lights during the day since 2014, daytime running lights are designed primarily to increase a vehicle's visibility from the front and do not necessarily activate rear lights.

For safe passage through tunnels, dipped beam headlights (Abblendlicht) are required. Using dipped beams ensures that rear lights are active, allowing following drivers to better perceive the position and distance of vehicles ahead. It is recommended to switch to dipped beams before entering the tunnel to ensure proper illumination and allow the driver to focus on traffic and signage.
