Seeman rallies in Chennai, denounces government and urges early by‑election

On August 2, 2024, Seeman, the chief co‑ordinator of the Tamil Perarasu Party, addressed a gathering in a private hall at Pallavaram, Chennai. The event marked the induction of about 1,000 new members into the party. In a fiery speech, Seeman lambasted Chief Minister Vijay and the state administration, accusing them of corruption, wasteful advertising spend and failure to address caste and religious issues. He questioned why the government invests heavily in street‑level advertising and demanded that a by‑election be announced promptly, saying he is “waiting with anger” for the announcement.

Seeman also mocked the chief minister’s recent 3‑kilometre run against drug abuse, claiming he could run 12 kilometres, and criticised the perceived closeness between actors and politicians. The rally highlighted growing frustration among the party’s base and signalled a push for a political showdown in Tamil Nadu.
