SEG Solar expands manufacturing footprint in Tomball, Texas

SEG Solar, a Houston-based solar manufacturer, is significantly expanding its operations in Tomball, Texas. The company has acquired two additional buildings at the Northwest 99 Business Park, totaling 1.15 million square feet. This expansion is intended to bring the Tomball campus to an annual module capacity of 8.6 gigawatts, contributing to a projected total U.S. module capacity of 10.6 gigawatts by 2027.

Additionally, SEG Solar has entered into a $950 million agreement to construct a 4GW heterojunction (HJT) solar cell facility within the Tomball Industrial Campus. This project is expected to be implemented in two phases, with 2GW each, targeting operations to begin in 2028 and 2029. The new facility is projected to create over 700 local jobs.

The integrated campus will eventually house HJT solar cells, modules, core components, research and development centers, and testing laboratories. By producing both cells and modules in Texas, the company aims to provide a vertically integrated supply chain that meets domestic content requirements for U.S. solar projects.
